The Lily of the Nile

I once knew a Lily of the Nile,

Who brought on such a beautiful smile.

Her style and grace,

Made me fall out of place,

And went trying to tame what was wild.

Her wit and her charm made me hold on too strong,

And in vain, I became beguiled.

Her scent grew so sweet, sweeping me clean off my feet,

That I had to put her love up on trial.

My love never grasped,

So now she's in the past,

And there has been admired all the while.
