Lilies for Jeremy

Lilies for Jeremy
Stop
And admire the lilies.
Their smiling faces,
Leaves dancing in a cool breeze.

” 1… 2… 3…”
He loves me.
I count three petals
Skipping over mischievous sepals.

Red roses and yellow daffodils
Cannot compare to lovely lilies.
Their voices carry in the wind
Loud enough for only me to hear.

Grasshoppers play silently
With the lilies
Like children dancing
Around a campfire.
I prance about the lilies.

The fall is coming
And the lilies fade.
Their petals dripping into the lake.
Their seeds take root
And they wait for the spring
For which they will abound.

I love the lilies
So beautiful and pure.
Always coming back
More gorgeous than before.

The lilies, the lilies!
They are precious
Always.
They last in my heart.
By and by.
Springing up in my soul.
We can never depart.

Stop and admire my lilies.
They have been there from the start.
Admire my lilied
That grow in my heart.

Stop
And admire the lilies.
