The Light

The birds are singing a new song, the flower are finally in bloom.

I rush to meet my friends down the street before it turns noon.

Jackie’s bringing the bat, and I’ve got a ball.

We head away from the house to avoid hitting the wall.

Swoosh, smack, there the ball goes high in the sky.

I turn to run and run until I suddenly see the li….

We arrive at the beach, making ruts in the sand.

The water is brisk so we head to see the band.

The crowd and my girls are full of life and fun

We continue the party until we see the end of the sun.

I notice more games are starting into the night

So I walk towards our new friends until I see the li….

The summer heat is beginning to dwindle as I begin school.

I’m surrounded by new people and some seem quite cruel

The classes are harder and I begin to miss home.

I spend most of my time under the science glass dome.

As I lie there, I wonder of all the life encased by the night

I ponder through my walk to the dorms until I see the li….

With the kids in school I can prepare for the holidays

I go from store to store, the people around are in a craze

Snow is falling and Christmas is just around the corner.

A doll for Sally, a train for Charlie, a sweater for Warner

My arms are full of what will soon be a child’s delight.

I head towards the car until suddenly I see a li...

I am the one who had too much to drink at the party

I am the one waiting to see the text that says sorry.

I am the one that was lost and trying to find my place on the map.

I am the one that had a long day at work and just wanted a nap

I am the one who reached around to check on my child’s fight

We are the drivers who created the light.
