A Lifetime

There was once a baby girl

And she was always in pain

She needed to be held

And sometimes things were okay

There was once a little girl

And she was very bright

She needed to sing in order to understand

And sometimes things were okay

There was once a school aged girl

And she was bullied

She needed to feel like she belonged

And sometimes things were okay

There was once a seventh grade girl

And she cut every night

She needed to leave the world alone

And things were never okay

There was once an eighth grade girl

And she was broken apart

She needed the people who’d sew her together

And she tried to be okay

There was once a ninth grade girl

And she was slowly healing

She needed to find a way out of the habits

And she was mostly okay

There will be a young lady

And she will be healed

And she’ll only need to work hard

And she’ll always be okay

There will be a woman

And she will have forgiven

But she needs to never forget

And she’ll make sure her kids are okay

There will be an old lady

And she will be about to die

She need only to remember how glad she was for her life

And she will be okay.
