A Life In A Year

Just like a baby can grow.
Just like water can flow.
So much can happen in a year,
12 months go by and you're like "whoa"

Reserved, and in a shell.
From a kid who never misses the morning bell.
Give me a secret, I'll never tell
In a year my life has gone well.

Not so sad, not so shy
But smart enough to question why?
Maybe because people made me feel like I could fly.
Or because I realized the world is mine?

Not so social, not so loud.
Used to hold back, and never proud.
A kid who runs from a crowd.
To a man who likes to stand up proud.

15 to 16 like a spending car
I always ask, how did I get this far?
I feel free, like I could touch the stars
I feel big, like I could be Mars.

Back on earth I waited for the day to pass.
Never one to want the sun to stay
In a year, I let moments last
Because I don't want the sun to go away.

Shy and trapped, to proud and free.
Now I wonder in a year, who will I be?
Questionable and ignorant
To formidable and arrogant

Time does wonders to those in need.
But lets us grow to a tree from a seed.
You can't ask it to stop, even if you plead
Time will always have the lead.

From smirks and frowns
To a smile that fits like a crown
From a boy that was always put down.
To one with love all around.

My life has changed and so have I.
And now I'm not questioning why.
I'm now proud and came from shy.
I'm now an eagle, so free I can touch the sky.
