Life as a part time-fish

IN MY SLEEP
When my eyes are closed
and I press pause on.my.responsibilities
The one time when I don't have to worry
about all the things on my list to do
And all the wounds I need to attend to
I can close my eyes
and see something
other than my unappealing reality
Can finally see the forest for the trees
The only time when I have time to appreciate roses and smell the daisies
I get so caught up
Speeding on the road of life without realising it I get tunnel vision
So often focusing
on the small things in life prevents me from really livin
Cant function without dotting my I’s and crossinf my T’s it feels.like and addiction
when i'm driving So hard i'm concentrating
on looking out for potholes that my ears forgot to listen
To the instructions that I was given
I close my eyes and see
a kind of life that is only lived in movies
And then I wake up
Only to spend my most days
That are all work and no play
When close my eyes
One of the few times I'm at peace
I can do one thing
That I seem to keep on forgetting
I finally breathe
I may as well live under the sea
because it only happens when I sleep
