The Life of Jane Eyre

Location

Jane’s life at Gateshead was dreary and dark,

There were times when Jane thought her presence left no mark.

Constantly taunted by her cousins and aunt,

Jane finally started to rant.

She got punished for fighting back,

When it was actually John who attacked.

She was locked in the red room,

Where she thought she would surely meet her doom.

At last, she sees a way out,

a school where she learns that she shouldn’t doubt.

She goes to Lowood, a charity school,

Where she learns she isn’t a fool.

She soon makes a friend,

But from typhus fever Helen is soon dead.

Jane still strives to fulfill her dreams,

And after fulfilling them she soon decides to leave.

She lucks up and finds a job,

Being a governess finally dulls her hearts throb.

She teaches Adele, just a child,

Who sometimes loves to run wild.

She meets Mr. Rochester and falls in love,

Then later finds out he has a beloved.

She is in despair when she finds out,

And leaves to go where Mr. Rochester isn’t wandering about.

She leaves her belongings in the coach, and now has nothing,

until she finds a family that will give her something.

They want to know where her family resides,

but she longs to set her past aside.

She stays at Moor House for a while, a lovely place,

where she gets well but still needs her space.

She makes friends there but knows she must move on,

to recommence her life and make all her past fears be gone.
