For all that is bad, there's some good that will come

With the heaviest of rain, you'll appreciate the sun

You will need to be bored, to know what is fun

And you will need a little, to value a ton

 

To know how things are great is to accept why it's not

Like how your favorite food is delicious, 'til it eventually rots

But you know that it's best when it's fresh and it's hot

So that's why your love for it will never stop

 

I realized that life is so awesome to me

What makes it great doesn't cost a fee

There so much to learn, experience, and see

Your life is too, it has every reason to be

 

To me, my reasoning goes deeper than that

How my life threw some curves while I was at bat

Some overwhelming, even left me flat

But there was one person who always had my back

 

I made some mistakes, nearly too late to regret

Some cost me love, happiness, and respect

Many opportunities I would continuously neglect

But still they had trust in me like a game of roulette

 

The main problem I had was doing well in school

A kid with potential who only acted a fool

Who's priorities were bad in order to be cool

And who's grades could only be fixed with high quality tools

 

They had hope in me when my chances were thin

Helped me climb out of this mile deep hole I was in

Even though I felt like a loser within

They gave me hope that soon I would win

 

I ended up succeeding one way and another

I managed to bounce back as if I was made from rubber

Ever since the days I would hide under covers

I knew I could always depend on my mother

 

My main goals: get in college and make myself a name

I'm happy I can look in her eyes and see no pain

Knowing I almost drowned myself within the rain

The sun showed it's face and I took no opportunity in vain

 

I see life as awesome mainly because of her

She gave me the sight when my path was a blur

I finally felt warmth like I was surrounded in fur

I'm glad to say I'm not what I once were

 

Optimism is the confidence some people have lacked

Negativity understandably can easily distract

But there's one thing everyone should know and that

is that life is awesome, and that's a fact
