The Life

Wed, 03/27/2013 - 12:50 -- Astar95

Sometimes I wonder about the life
The lives that gave me equal rights
Leaders who have paved the way
Who have made it possible for me today
Things I take for granted now
Still wondering about the how
Because I was blessed to never have had to live it
Thinking of all of the provisions they have given
And made for me; Now we have risen
Underdogs who have come out victorious
Through peaceful protests
It must have been so much more to digest
Back then when they had to fight
To make what has now changed my life
Into something no one could have foreseen
A black man now ruling the country
A huge step from where we were
Seeing now after being blind
We can now live the life.
