Lie To Me

Lie to me please.

Whisper sweet, terrible, beautiful untruths

In the dead of night

When everything is still and lonely

Because I cannot bear to hear the truth now.

Lie to me please.

Tell me I am beautiful, tell me I am brave, tell me I am not broken,

In broad daylight on the sidewalk

Surrounded by strangers

Because I need there to be witnesses

To the ugly comforts you can give me.

Lie to me please.

Fake your love to me in gentle kisses

And satiny palms pressed against mine

And pinches to remind me that I am real.

Pretend to love me,

Never fall for me. That will end in only

Broken hearts, because all you know

Is that hurting others makes you

Feel in control.

Lie to me please.

I don’t care what you say,

Just don’t make it true.

The truth cuts like a blade,

Staining everything red with my blood.

I will not stop bleeding.

I’m sorry for bleeding on your carpet.

Lie to me please,

My dear, sweet lovely.

Lie to me, and do not stop.
