Liberate Happiness

At times happiness

can be forsaken

Disregarded

as if it were an obscure memory

Smothered beneath the weight

of its more prevalent rivals

it eagerly waits

for an opportunity to emerge

Patiently desiring the brief moment

Needed to escape

the ominous restraints and

reveal itself

Some suppress it

believing they are the unfortunate

condemned to suffer

with the company of sadness

All the while happiness

is anticipating

desperately longing for the instant

when it is granted freedom

                  Happiness

                  is only unattainable

                  for those who refuse

                  to liberate it
