Letter to Purpose

Mon, 01/01/2018 - 16:59 -- hillay

Dear Purpose,

I think about you all the time

Through countless seconds, minutes, and hours

You were always hard to find

My life continued with persistence

From elementary to high school

To believe in your existence

My nickname was Dr. King

Sometimes even Malcolm X

Because I had a dream

With high hopes for a new start

I attended college to earn my degree

Keeping my mind intact so it wouldn’t fall apart

I wasn’t trying to win the race

I wanted to survive

Going at my own pace

I wanted my name to be heard as motivation

To be stuck in people’s brain

As determination

You are not my fate

You didn’t decide which path I was going to take

I made my own choices to achieve goals on a specific date

My intentions were to teach people about value

To have individuals invest in themselves and then in others for a better cause

So I’m going to do what I need to do

I have my reason

And that reason is you.

Yours truly,

Aaramis
