The Lady In The Painting

Location

Who is the lady appearing blatantly before their eyes,

In a Renaissance orbiting culture and sacred lies,

But blasphemy she be not,

Rather an untold secret the public forgot.

The admitted grin along with an expression so vague

Evokes a mystery that started a social plague.

Da Vinci committed 13 years to her creation,

Indulgence she be not nor temptation.

A woman mediocre in many views,

A beauty painted in Da Vinci’s hues.

Her significance is unambiguous,

For she was woven with such diligence.

Could she be a lover, an artist, or an illusion?

She’s an enigma is my conclusion.
