Just A Party

Silently standing,

watching everyone else.

Still,

but everything is spinning.

Everyone is dancing,

either to the beat or their own.

Her feet don't move,

but her mind is racing.

In the middle of the crowd.

Hair falls in her face,

seemingly hiding her from her surroundings.

Uncomfortable.

A thick jacket and tight jeans cover her skin.

She belongs elsewhere.

Or does she belong anywhere at all?

She never seemed to fit in.

Anywhere she went,

she was the outcast.

Uneasy feelings;

they always found a resting place in her stomach.

She finally escaped the crowd,

but did she really?

Her mind is crowded.

It always has been,

there's truly no escaping.

She's trapped,

trapped in a cage that she can never break free of.

I guess that's how life works.

You get trapped.

No matter how hard you try,

you're stuck.
