Just for Giggles

Location

All the poems I see these days are competitions

For whoever has experienced the worst pain

Whoever has the most scars on their wrist wins

It's like all happiness you feel is just in vein

Why all the dispair? Depression?

Talk about falling in love for the first time

One broken heart isn't going to kill you

Your obsession with depression will do that

Emotion is what makes us human

Each end of the spectrum is noteworthy

But I haven't felt enough pain to write about it

Bliss is something that I am more familiar with

The best night of my life was prom night

Seeing my best friend win prom queen

Sharing a dance with the one I'd loved for a year

Looking at clique boundaries crumble around me

Do you ever laugh so hard that you think you'll die?

I did that this morning with friend's I didn't know I had

My ribs are still aching this very moment

I just ask, why would anyone want to be sad?

I graduate this year with the people I grew up with

The future is a scary enough place without pessimism

But I'm so excited to see what's next for my life

I just hope that others would be too

Please don't get me wrong

There's nothing wrong with being sad

It's part of life and being human

But just remember; there's nothing wrong with being happy.
