The Judges and the Mask

Location

The Judges and the Mask

Polars in contrast, the girl hidden and the girl you see.

For the comfort of conformity,

I hide the misfit and present the queen.

Highly unpopular is the girl behind the curtain,

The nerd, the hippie, who doodles like Tim Burton.

She will bore you with details of knitting vs crochet,

To an audience who couldn’t care less on any given day.

Black and white these two must be,

To keep friends or to fit in with family.

The girl in front gives an air confidence,

Who often only cares for the effort of your presence.

Being liked is easier than being left behind,

Unless there are others with a non-narrow mind.

I don’t care about football, getting my nails done or working out,

Highlights in my hair or Channing Tatum’s whereabouts.

I really don’t care for bacon, cats, or rap

I like reading classic literature and all that “boring crap”.

To meet this misfit, the admission is fair

Of two things I ask;

One: Leave behind the judges

And two: forget the mask.
