It is hard to believe how far we've come
this journey is hard and long but still undone
through pain and sacrifice rights will be won
but only to those who fight for the equal right of one

its hard to to think that slaves still exist
long lost names only numbers on ancient lists
people chained together unhappily by their wrists
hoping to to escape and ready to fight with their fists

Although slavery is no more
these people wait for their rights while begging on the floor
When begging gets them no where they protest at the core
preaching to the people who also mourn

Finally the get their rights
but only through painful fights
they get their chance to shine in lights
soaring higher and higher than any other kites.

Although they possess a different look
they deserve civil rights according to my book.
