I almost cried when we left Ireland.

It was so green,

and the people so friendly.

A weathered land of legend and song,

the prettiest place I'd ever seen.

The Alaskan sky was gray and wide.

The cold winds made my heart soar

like the bald eagles above.

Snorkeling in Ketchikan waters between dark jellyfish

was like nothing I'd ever done before.

I stopped for a day in a coastal Welsh village.

Fishing boats sailing and seagulls above,

a quaint little place, to be sure.

But as I talked to the lady with the second-hand books,

I realized what it was I loved.

I am driven by travel, exploring new places.

By water or by road or by sky,

I revel in new cities, new parks, new stories.

It is joy, it passion, it is curiosity bright,

adventure is what gives me life.
