It's only right

Civil rights, an act to be free
An act to for once be treated as equals
To no longer judge by the color you see

Once not allowed to receive and education or a seat at church
If caught rebelling was sure to be hurt
In a restaurant you would be lucky to get served
For some reason this was thought to be deserved
No sharing restrooms, theaters or water fountains
The road to freedom seemed to be a mountain

Along came the 1800s , things seemed to change
Under circumstances blacks had opportunities and were started to be treated the same
Slowly but surely we all have the same rights
Although it certainly took a determined fight
Now we are free to live life with all our might
It is only right
