It's Not Often

It's not often death can save your life

It's not often death can teach you how to thrive

But it happens

It can teach you to let go

to forget your petty woes

because you may only have today

and living one day at a time

is an adventure worth surviving for.

It's not often death can give you your life back.

It can be that push,

that nudge,

that gentle bump into something you'd never do,

never in a million years.

But death helps you do it,

because she tells you

you don't have a million years,

You have now.

Let it be enough.

Let it sink into the inky depths of your being,

and start your life anew.

Let the susurrus of an end,

guide you to the start.

Let Death be your angel

and let her bright light shape you

Me
