"Here," you call, your voice,

full of child-like love.

You can here the pat of his paws,

as he dashes towards you,

through the grove.

He barks; you giggle.

It was a bond truly formed,

uncorrupted too.

And yet you soon notice,

how he's scrawnier than before,

how sad his big eyes are,

and how his tail droops.

You worry, you fret,

and yet,

it wasn't enough.

It's never enough,

Because soon he's gone,

gone forever,

with no goodbye.

And you cry.

Amd then, you think, you always think,

"Dogs have feelings too!"
