It's Just Me and My Tower

Proper: A princess always does the right thing

Respect: A princess always obeys the king

Innocent: A princess never causes distress

Neat: A princess never makes a mess

Caring: A princess never causes distress

Elegant: A princess always looks her best

Smile: A princess never wears a frown

Sensible: A princess always gets up when she’s knocked down

The princess stared at the books on her wall

“Who would want to be a princess at all?”

She asked herself, “If you get stuck in a tower so tall.”

“This is for your own good” her father had said

“You’ll need a prince to rule by your side,” Her mother had said

“This is simply how it is done,” Her grandmother had said.

Her grandfather just snorted from under his bed.

Days turned into months and months turned into years

And the time passed with very few tears

For the princess was quite happy for the silence in her ears

Until one fateful day in her small little tower

The princess heard shouting while in her blue shower

“Why who could that be at this early hour?”

She peered over the tower edge and looked down below

To find a prince waiting, his horse with carriage in tow

“Rapunzel, Rapunzel, let down your hair” the prince called up to her tower

“That’s not my name,” The princess called with a voice most sour

The prince frowned, “Why, then what is my beautiful little flower?”

“My name is Kate,” Kate said, “Princess Kate from the kingdom Bellflower.”

“Kate, Kate, won’t you please let down your hair?

It’s time to complete our story my lady fair.”

“I am not your lady fair or the princess for this tale

I merely wish to be alone without talk or mail

But if you insist on coming up then this tower you must scale”

And with that the princess went back to her book

Believing the prince she had shook

Alas, it was not over for dear Princess Kate

For a while later at seven past eight

The prince tumbled in and broke her favorite plate

“Greetings Princess,” The prince said with a bow

“Before I left my kingdom, to bring you back I did vow.”

“Then you’ll have to return empty handed,” Kate replied

“I do not intend on leaving with you to be your bride”

Then, the prince decided to swallow his pride

And sit down by Kate, right by her side

“Can I stay up here with you then,” He asked with a small smile

“I suppose,” The princess replied, “But just for a little while.”

So there, high above the trees and all the flowers

Is where they spent the rest of their hours

Outside the small little kingdom of Bellflower
