Italy Forever in my Mind

One more time I laugh out loud

Thoughts of Rome, sun and clouds

My dreams harken back to Italian nights

Piazza strolls amid twinkling lights

My memories still fresh from a global summer

 Indigo nights; sensual stunners

That life of mystery awakened desires

We were engulfed in passion, internal fires

We covered the grounds, throwing coins in a fountain

We sought cooler temps in exotic mountains

We saw our days through the eyes of the locals

And differentiated each dialect and the unique vocals

I’ve tried to forget the bliss we relished

So exotic, pure, no memories embellished

We arrived back home, no changes visible

Yet dreams were planted, our futures more winnable

Abandonment of routine, shifts toward flight

Altered our consciousness with beauty so bright

I’ll never forget that summer we bloomed

We became young women, confident smiles we plumed
