It Hurts

It hurts
To feel like less
To have that terrible weight on your chest
When all you want is for it to be lifted

It hurts
To be looked at as less
To realize you're stuck in this big mess
Trying to fix it without hope to be seen

It hurts
To have to keep going
To push through and fight for everything knowing
It might not get better while you're still here

It hurts
To try and change the ways that were set in stone
To try and love those who have before broken your spirit and bone
But we can't give up

It hurts
To love who don't care
To feel for those who don't want to do their share
But we must stand up

It hurts
No one every said it would be easy to do
That we would get this done in a day, week, month, year or two
But if we don't stand up who will?
