It All Began

It all started with a bang
a gunshot to control the masses
the abduction of a nation
and a trip across the Atlantic.

Then nothing changed for centuries
until someone new spoke up about the American Dream
and explained that freedom began with an
X.
So, riots broke out between war and peace
and the middle ground collapsed
leaving a new divide between the black and white
with no grey area in between.

And then violence became the voice of reason
and they started burning crosses
for reasons other than religion
and reverted back to name calling.

Then fights broke out and ghost mobs
dressed in white became mass murderers
and that was the moment that the world
and hell collided.
But then someone shot the King of peace
And it all went back to how it began, and with hope and a Dream of unity
a decision was made.
That the world was meant for everyone who claimed,
“I have a Dream.”
