I sit in a desk and I whine about it.
My friends hear school, we gag about it.
School is prison they say.
School is stupid the say.
Make school go away they pray.
I don't want to get up they say.
Ditching and fighting.
Laziness and Lying.
Unfocused and kids not trying.
Giving up.
Saying they'd rather be dying.
I'm done.
I hate it.
I don't want to go.
Yet all the while a girl is crying.
She has no pencil, no food.
Her mom is dying.
Drawing in the dirt, she's smiling.
Laughter.
I want school.
They're trying.
We're whining.
Appreciation doesn't even come close.
I saw thank you.
We say thank you.
I type this poem, and I don't even think to thank the fact that-
I can type this poem.
I sit in school.
i check clocks.
I broke pencils.
I ripped up paper.
Not even thinking about the fact that I had paper
