Integration.
What’s that?
Faubus said no, this won’t happen in my state.
Does he have that right?

The Arkansas National Guard was called in.
Eisenhower said things were not the way they had been.
Conflicting views
Only led to violence and the blues.

Nine scared students walked through that door.
Protecting these students became a chore.
Every day
Insults would spray.

Yet there were some students who would give aid.
They had would help improve a simple grade.
Death threats
Led some tutors to be full of regrets.

The cruelty some of these students received
Is different than what Elizabeth Huckaby believed.
The brave lady
Knew the actions of the governor were shady.

She knew each one of the girls’ classes
And she helped fight against the masses.
The nation
Changed after this integration station.

Those students were brave and strong.
Each one fought against the wrong.
Little Rock Central High School
Is no longer the exception to the rule.
