The Imponderable Smile

What a strange and twisted fate, that of Alice dear.

She walks around in a dream, no common sense of fear.

I am the watcher of the land, secretive and rare,

We will meet soon dear Alice, I'll appear from thin air.

Deep down a rabbit hole she falls into our secret land,

I'd much rather skunk around than lend her a helping hand.

I can see, I can spy, I can watch, I can wait,

She walks along a strange path, headed toward what fate?

If I want this world to change from under the Hearts' thumb,

I must involve my own life thread should dear Alice succumb.

She stumbles upon a tea party following a rabbit's clue,

Surprise! The Hatter has gone mad, the hare and the mouse too.

I can see it all, the turn of time- the endless sea of fate,

My body is imperceptible like the timelines that I skate.

I'm here then there, I'm everywhere! I cause a trick or treat,

I could be good I could be bad, the labels I often cheat.

Now dear Alice get ready for war the Jabberwocky descends,

The battle royal to test the strength of whoever may ascend.

Tiny, small, naïve Alice all mixed up in the power play,

The judge and jury make the call as Alice's evidence saves the day.

Now run back to your gloomy world, all wrapped up in common sense,

Don't forget us, for all too soon you'll return and rise to our defense.

With my smile fading in and out, I'm always ready for a chat,

With knowledge and power, no one knows, it's me the Cheshire Cat.
