As a kid

I loved swimming

It was something

That made me happy

As I grew

My love

For immersion

Became fear

As I realized

The mental horror

Of drowning

In your own

Pool of sadness

My happiness

Became clouded

An emptiness

In my soul

'You need help'

You told me the day

I immersed myself

In my own darkness

What was help?

A mark of a pen,

claiming me

to be

I didn't understand

How I could be helped

I believed

It was useless

Yet I came

To the understanding

Not reaching out

Was useless

What was help?

Nothing prescriptions

Could cure

But something

I had to learn

For myself.
