Hiding behind the shadows

Singing behind the meadows,

Diving in the shallow water.

 

I am who I am.

I'm Palestinian

I'm American.

I'm Muslim.

 

Identity shattered,

no where to hide,

no where to sing,

no where to dive.

 

Blood covering the truth,

Lies cracking to the surface,

Feeling see-through.

 

Uncovered, Raw, and Peeling away. 

Ghost, I am. 

An atom in the galaxy.

Nothing, but human.

 

Flaws everywhere.

Stinging from the inside,

Itching from the outside.

 

Running from the back,

to the front.

Nothing matters,

I'm human. 

I'm only human.
