I'm awake.

I wake, rise from my slumber.

I'm awake.

"Today's the day," I stand and say,

to develop my passion, learn, create.

My body's tired, but my mind is ready.

My palms are sweaty, my knees unsteady.

I'm awake.

The lectures are long, homework is hard,

but I listen as I add one more card

to my deck of knowledge so I can grow

in wisdom, in strength, in more than I know.

I'm awake.

What I desire is to learn and create.

Solve any problems that I might make,

so I can develop my skills and my ace,

to solve any problems that others might face.

I'm awake.

My motivation is me and you.

I desire success in all that I do.

The success of myself is only a bit,

The success of others completes my fit.

I'm awake.

So whether it's dreary or dark outside,

or my body is broken - I'm tired inside,

I rise from slumber, stand up and say,

"Today's the day, my day to take."

Carpe diem.

I'm awake.
