Ignorance is Insulting

I am nothing like you want me to be

I am not smart

I am not funny

I am not strong

I will never be what you want me to be

Instead of inspiring me

I just get sad at the thought

I will never be enough for you

I could cure cancer or go to the olympics

I’ll never be enough.

I’m used to it.

I don’t want you to

Imagine that

I could be better because

I can’t.

If you want me to be what you want me to be

I don’t deserve that kind of trust

I am an

Injured child who

Imitates her

Idols who she will never measure up to
