I Will Stay. I Will Go.
Location
I stare out of the bus window at the bleakest of scenes
As the Israelites stared at the Egyptian desert
My thoughts are interrupted by the gruffest of voices
Demanding
Waiting
That I move
I will stay
My muscles ache from the hardness of the ground
It is only surpassed by the hardness of the glares of the crowd
Their eyes are judging
Demeaning
Damning
That I leave the shop
I will stay
The children fill the streets with laughter and good hope
The children continue to come, though the danger feels no mercy
Their weapons are drawn
Bashing
Flooding
That I may become subordinate
I will go
