I Want to Leave

Sun, 09/29/2013 - 18:49 -- DC129

“Don’t write,” you say,

“Just watch.”

But come to think of it,

why am I watching you at all

when I have so many more elaborate things to watch.

I’d rather be standing on the pinpoint of a pyramid,

or rowing a gondola in some

fancy European setting.

Instead,

to my annoyance,

I sit and watch your wrinkled hand

swiftly scribbling equations

and x’s and lines

on your projector.

And I don’t want to write

and I don’t want to watch.

I want to leave.
