I Think My Whole Generation Is Consuming Lunesta

Mixed in a jungle of confused and desperate cubs

where everyone is trying to emulate someone

and looking inwards is rarely seen nor done

I had a conversation face to face today,

with friends that I see but find fall out of my view

can we talk more often, I begged, they laughed

Communicating through batteries scares me,

there energy runs out and then what do we do,

wait for them to charge as our lives rapidly drain?

I’ve been invited to the worlds largest slumber party,

where everyones asleep and share the same dreams.

If you were wondering, 90’s babies are VIPS.

There is nothing wrong with riding the midnight train

filled with silly trends conducted by cult of personality.

As long as we remember the next stop is our destination

the future depends on us, no jail free cards will be dealt

our mistakes will eventually be the debt of our innocent seeds

as you can imagine, it's hard to win a race with a delayed start.

I sound like a pessimist, but honestly, I'm an optimist

I looked in the foggy mirror bare faced and moved

my eyes bared light in a peculiar dark hue.

I told my blurred reflection that I’ll love the real me,

Because all though the mirror needs to be cleaned

the steam is my clouds, the dirt is my filth

and when it’s cleaned underneath for sure, will be me.

I’m no better than the man standing in line for his third big mac,

the kids running so fast that they make the poor old lady stumble,

or the girl that texts till dawn and complains about being tired

But I am better than living in avoidable confinement.

opening your eyes will bring wonders we can all share

and please remember, sleeping beauty didn't live till she awoke.
