I STILL SEE YOU

I still see you everywhere I go
but then I remember
it's not really you, but a stranger
haunted by the memories
I try to forget
to leave pain behind, you tried too
you left us too soon
I know you couldn’t take it anymore
your heart
just too soft for this hard world
it saddens me
I’ll never just bump into you
but I forget
for a split second
long enough to think I see you and smile

~

I still see you everywhere I go
but then I remember
and they are a complete stranger
those memories, they still haunt
I live with regret
but you don’t have to
you left too soon
couldn’t take the pain
your broken heart
just too caring for this crushing world
maybe I’ll see you
for a second in a stranger’s heart
I still see you everywhere I go

~in memory of Sheehan~
