I should never have written poetry for you.

I respect that you care for yourself,

But I hate that you never learned how to care for others.

I respect that they are your emotions,

But I hate that you refuse to deal with them.

I respect that you don’t change yourself for others,

But I hate that you don’t make changes to grow either.

I respect that you don’t take responsibility for other people,

But I hate that you take no responsibility for your impact on them.

I respect that you are introverted and self reliant,

But I hate that think you can solve interpersonal problems alone.

I respect they are your decisions to make,

But I hate that you make them.

I respect you,

But I hate you.
