I Remember

I remember rain

Soft and slick on my tongue

The puff of wind

The smell of salt on my skin.

I remember laughter

Clear as day

Strong as lions

Yet fake and grey

I remember sand

It lies between my toes

Soft and hard within my nails

To form as a castle or toad

And the scent of the sea

How salty and sweet.

How blue it lays

With layers of new shades

And creatures not at bay.

I remember dust

Thin as pizza crust

My wheels how they seethe

Within the rocks and dirt

The motor loud as a flowing river

It makes me shiver

I remember those days

The days to remember

The days to abandon

Or the ones to set aflame.

I remember endings

Sweet and glorious,

Or dull and depressive.

It is hard to forget

It is hard to remember

All I know is I’ll never regret

Not a single hard day

Or the marvelous rain.
