I never saw the declaration-

I never saw the British coming-

But I know what’s written on it

And that they came by sea,

I never understood the 55, who signed,

Or visited Independence Hall where there ghosts resided,

Thou, I know why they committed such treason

As if history could lie.

I was inspired to write this poem after watching National Treasure with Nicolas Cage and it was the scene where they are standing in the room where the Declaration of Independence was signed and Nicolas looks at his two freinds and says," Think about it, the last time this was here.... it was being signed." I just it was the greatest thing ever so I wrote this poem.
