I Love You, But I Love Myself More
"Because I love you"
Doesn't mean it's okay
For me to do as you say.
The phrase "because I love you"
Should only be used to express
An act of love, of gratitude; it must not be used as a screw.
A screw to bind my freedom with your eagerness to posess.
Because I love you, I will respect you.
Because I love you, I will confide in you.
Because I love you, I will value you.
I will make you happy because I love you;
I will acompany you because I love you;
I will protect you because I love you;
And I will expect the same in return, because I love myself.
And if you cannot abide to these rules of health and love
You should get going--
Because loving you should not mean I have to stop loving me.
