"I Love You"

"My mother"
he said
never said 'I love you'
she didn't have to
my grandpa
was never the type to say
'I love you'
he didn't have to
never did he doubt
his mothers love

my grandpa said to me
"I love you"
and we stared at him in surprise
never once did he say that phrase
to anyone
my grandpa said to him
"hello son,
I've been thinking of you all day"
his form of
"I love you"
striking a bell
in our hearts
a familiar tingle
because never once
did we doubt
our father's love
