I live in music

Location

I live in music

From my days in the womb,

Mother’s sweet, majestic voice

In my veins.

I live in music

The vitality of my soul

Tiny trembling fingers

As they gently press the piano keys

My heart fluttering

To every breathtaking beat.

I live in music

It’s Karlita dancing in the park

Swaying her hips to those Latin roots

Salsa sounds, blazing horns

1-2-3 Cha-cha 1-2-3-Cha-Cha

Wah-wah goes the trumpets

On those Big band records

Growling saxophone genius

As el Gatito plays “Europa”

My blood boiling with excitement

As my feet begin to soar.

I live in music

Tears helping the earth grow

My passion, the blooming flower

But oh when that girl smiles

Those big brown, long lashed eyes

Sparkle the sky

A music-note sprinkled cereal

A daily meal.

I live in music

I live in my sound

Mi música

Con ese saxofón fuerte

La música está en esa niña linda

The music lives in me.
