I Identify

I identify with those who risked their lives to come here to start a new life, and forge upon this land the mark of perseverance, altruism, and unyielding determination.

I identify with who I love, regardless of who anyone thinks I should love

I identify with mothers and fathers

I identify with sisters and brothers

I identify with daughters and sons

I identify with the color of the blood of all people as red, regardless of the color of skin

I identify with beliefs that I hold and that no one has the right to judge or take from me, so long as my beliefs do not harm others, nor impede upon their beliefs

I identify with peace

I identify with cooperation

I identify with hard work, truth, and justice

I identify with educators, police officers, firefighters, soldiers, and any person in any position where their livelihood is in serving others

I identify with those who would invent and innovate, develop and create whether for beauty, convenience, or purpose

I identify with the right to worship, with forgiveness; asked and given

I identify with what I want because it’s my right to be who I am and do what I think is best for me and my family…..

I identify American. And all that it implies.

This poem is about:
Me
My family
My community
My country
