I grew up way back in the sticks,
horses, mama, and me was how it would be.
She always knew I’d be a country chick,
out from dusk to dawn, I was wild and free.

You could trust a man for life,
deals were sealed with a handshake and “Yes Sir”.
Locals were there for you in times of strife,
fixin’ a flat, or with whatever to occur.

I grew up way back in the sticks,
horses, mama, and me was how it would be.
She always knew I’d be a country chick,
out from dusk to dawn, I was wild and free.

Workin’, fishin’, cookin’, and swimmin’,
yeah, I loved em all; however, everyone knew,
I’d rather be up on my high horse, that was my pew.
He watches me everywhere to see how I’m doin’.

I grew up way back in the sticks,
horses, mama, and me was how it would be.
She always knew I’d be a country chick,
out from dusk to dawn, I was wild and free.
