I Get it, World

Thu, 06/27/2019 - 18:53 -- AK2019

People watch, but not with their eyes; they watch with groins, hands, and minds

You “front” so they look from behind, you’re tough so they’ll take their time

You don’t look, you don’t brawl, ‘cause you always, always take the fall

Living in this skin is a costly pretense, it’s cost me all my innocence

So look at me, in all my brutishness and promiscuity

‘Cause I get it, I understand now World, no one cares I’m only a black, ten-year-old girl
