I Found My Way

I was lost
I was young
Wandering through the halls
A residual ghost drifting
Confused, misplaced
Alone
A year later
My fingers brought a death stick to my chapped lips
Unknowingly, absentmindedly
Temporary bliss
A boy
Robbed my heart
I found it in his eyes
Deceit, shattered
I still haven’t gotten it back
Another year gone
I came home after school one day
Wanting to start over
Fresh start
I found my hands grabbing for scissors
They found their way to my hair
I watched it fall to the bathroom floor
Slowly, real
Three months later
I came to school
Equipped with boy-short hair and determination
Straight A’s
No procrastination
Will I get accepted?
Stress, doubt
A letter arrives
Accepted into my dream college
Relief, tears of joy
I was lost
Finally
I found my way
