I cannot tell

Sat, 11/23/2019 - 16:55 -- A Finch

Are you a dream,I cannot tell.

I’ve fallen asleep beneath your spell

that I cannot break

or hope to dispel.

Am I truly awake

or are you a dream, I cannot tell.

A fruitless thing to reminisce,

How foolish that I wonder this!
Foolish it is indeed I know

but it seems I cannot dismiss

you from my dreams and so

now I ponder this.

I think I love you, I cannot tell.

Is love supposed to feel like hell?

It is what I dream of:

why the angels fell,

how the heavens move,

the author of each ocean swell.

I think I love you, I cannot tell.

It seems I don’t know love that well.

When we kiss

Or say farewell,

I am left only this;

I think I love you, I cannot tell.
