I Cannot Be Defined

I cannot be defined

I am more that the label that can be placed on a person as if it is their price tag to the world. With a labeled, you are already marketed to society at to what they think you are worth. The CEOs' life is worth more than the life of the homeless mans' who spends his day begging for change against the building that the CEO owns. Society has forever tried to label it's people to try to make sense of them and to put them in a special box that is only filled with either promise or stereotypes. Black people have been placed in a box that has more layers than can be seen. Light skin, dark skin, hood negros, educated African Americans,  but in the end we're just black to everyone else. We are a culture of all shades, ethnicities and backgrounds, so why must we separate ourselves from ourselves.  Labels get more complex when you get to the lgbt community. Why must we label ourselves so everyone knows who and what we are. We know why we are, and who we love. From fems, stems, butches and studs, to soft studs, pillow queens, stones, twinks, bears, otters, all of it. When we put ourselves up for expectations that we may not be able to follow, or just can't because our hearts won't allow it. Why is it ok for two fems to date, and a stud and fem to date, but as soon as a stud proclaims affection to another stud, they are considered gay, which is weird because both are still women? Why is it messed up for a stud to be bisexual and have attractions for a man? Why must the one in the relationship that is considered more feminine, man or woman, required to be submissive and weak. Are we not already a box outside of societies expectations, yet we want to put expectations for ourselves that were set by society that already has deemed the lgbt community as lesser humans. The heterosexual white male born to a wealthy family is already deemed worth more at birth than the black lesbian will ever be. Orientation doesn't matter. Race doesn't matter. Age, gender, and class doesn't matter. We are all just water who try to make ourselves different by adding oil, and oil and water don't mix. What matters is your personality. Bluntly put out as to if you're an asshole or not.
