"I Blinked"

I blinked and you were gone
I closed my eyes for a few extra seconds, exhaled in attempt to immortalize the fleeting reality
Of your fingers on my hip bones

I opened my eyes only to see you
Turn to water and then evaporate into air
I wouldn’t even know you were there
If it weren’t for the air rushing in
Every time you leave my room too swiftly

Collectively, I have stared
At the back of my eyelids for
one hundred and
seven
days

Thats six days each year
we spend just blinking
yet we still have the audacity
to think that we are not missing
anything important
