I am your Child

Location

 Christians new

 And Christians old

 Deal and have dealt

 With vile untold.

 Drugs in school.

 Kids smoking young.

 Oh, the things some do

 Just to have “fun.”

 Junk on tv

 Even worse in books

 Filth all around

 Wherever we look.

 We fight it at work.

 We fight it at school.

 In a fallen world

 It’s a given rule.

 We learn to place

 Satan’s war cry.

 We either steer clear

 Or stand up and fight.

 But there are times

 When Satan creeps in.

 We feel given no choice.

 Evil scores a win.

 Now we feel dirty,

 Lost and confused.

 Stuck with this knowledge,

 Mentally abused.

 Having done so well

At getting out of our shell,

 We sink back in

 Where we used to dwell.

 Presence recedes.

 Eyes lose light.

 Words lose meaning.

 Voice becomes slight.

 But we must remember

 We fight not alone.

 Christ stands beside us

 Our heart to atone.

 He’ll free us from guilt.

 He’ll guide us when lost.

 He’ll clean up our filth

 And teach us the cost.

 He’ll cleanse our heart.

 He’ll help us through.

 We’ll fight for others

 So they don’t lose, too.

 Please, God, help me remember

 Whatever comes my way

 I am Your child

 Come what may!
